| 僕が日本へ紹介しているRob Allen Guitars
(http://roballenguitars.com/)について書いてみます。 数年前、Mike Fullerのバンドのベーシストのチャックがリハーサルに持ってきたRob Allen Bass MB-1というベースを見たマイクが『素晴らしいからチェックしなよ！』と電話してきました。また、学生時代にサンタバーバラでバンド活動をしていたMI Hollywoodで働くLA在住の日本人の先輩が以前からRob Allenという昔のバンド仲間が素晴らしいベースを製作しているから紹介するよっというプッシュがあり気になっていたので早速電話してみました。その電話越しに聞く彼はとても誠実そうでまた職人独特のProductsに対する頑固な姿勢やその情熱に感銘を受け早速2本製作オーダーを入れてみました。 一ヶ月後に出来上がってきたそれらのベースは想像以上に素晴らしい物で今までのフレットレスベースのイメージを覆えさせられました。その木の感触といいトップ材の美しさは彼の拘りであり、その個性的なデザインそしてそのとても暖かいウッディーなサウンドは弾いた人の創造力を掻き立てる素晴らしい物です。 今年の夏はVintage Guitar Magazine他音楽各誌で絶賛紹介され去年の約5倍以上のオーダーが入り非常に忙しく充実した日々を工房がある緑美しいサンタバーバラの街で過ごしているロブアレンの経歴をここで簡単にご紹介しておきます。 ●1980-83 セイモアダンカン氏(Seymour Duncan )に約3年間師事。 ( research and development of pickups + various tasks) ●1984-86 Performance Guitar-Hollywoodで働く。 ●1986-87 Jim Tyler氏の元で働く。 ●1986-92 LA Session Guitarist days ●1992-94 Melissa Etheridgeのワールドツアーギタリスト。 * featured in Guitar Player Magazine Jan'93 regarding my guitar recording techniques ●1994-97 Rick Turner氏に師事。 ●1997 サンタモニカにある"Guitar Traditions" で働きながらRob Allen Guitars オープン。 ●2000, June Santa Barbaraに Rob Allen Guitars の工房をオープン 現在、池部楽器店様と黒澤楽器店Bass Center様にて取り扱っております。 是非、足をお運びになってRob Allenの情熱に触れてみてください！   #1- necks and bodies in the humidity controlled drying room. This is a very important factor for wood stability. We dry the wood to 6% moisture (very dry) before making the neck or body. Then it is kept in this room until it has the finish applied. This makes for the most stable instrument. Most large factories, and many small ones too, do not do this.  curly walnut. for Mouse body has "two tone" special wood- hard to find  top- wide curly Koa- you almost never see it with these very wide curls- it is usually smaller curls   Left- spalted Brazilian Rosewood- very, very rare. this wood is at least 50yrs old. This will be sold for acoustic guitars. Brazilian Rosewood is the best acoustic tone wood in the world for guitars Right- custom 8 string. 4 bass strings (fretless) and 4 nylon guitar strings (fretted). the woods are: 9 piece koa neck, brazilian f.b for bass, goncalo alves for guitar. Body is alder (extra deep 2.5 inches) with a curly koa top. Each set of strings will have it's own pickup and electronics for seperate amplification. Each side will have it's own wooden volume knob on either side of the bridge.     |
